Tell me which quilts are your favorite and why!!
Is it the color? The design? The Quilting? Or just because!!
Yes, you can choose more than one.
We ran a viewers choice during the exhibition,
and l will be interested to see if the same quilt is a winner again.
So please join in. And l hope you enjoy seeing these quilts.
l will choose 4 random winners on Friday.
My next post will be my 200th.
And l will be releasing my first Self Published pattern.
Each of the winners will receive a pattern and a QITB pin.
Thanks for visiting.
Linda.
My favorite is #24. I love the large pattern that allows the eye to rest on the clean lines and the simplicity of red and white. From a distance, it's understated beauty is striking. Then, upon closer inspection, the elaborate quilting design is a stunning surprise! Up close, the eye travels all over the quilt. What a treat!
ReplyDelete#9, #23, #41. All for their rich color and intricate design.
ReplyDeleteNow i was sure you were going to ask which quilt appeared twice.... and it would be my favourite , so 12 and 28, i love needleturn applique for so the same reason i love 39, . But for piecing skill i would choose 23 and 40... They are all gorgeous could they all get a prize?
ReplyDeleteRed is my favorite color, and I can truly say that I love each and every one of these quilts. I like #20 because I am always drawn to quilts with a lot of pieces and with interesting, pieced borders. I love how one block in the border is turned the "wrong" way. Another favorite is #41 - a great pattern, and border but the quilting is just the perfect way to finish it. #22 and #35 (are they the same quilt?) also catch my eye. Just amazing - thanks so much for sharing them with us all.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! They are all so beautiful. I am drawn to quilts with applique so I my favorites are 12, 28, 36 and 39. A hard choice as they are all very well done and so lovely. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, what a lovely quilts you are showing! My most favorite is number 37, because I love the weddingringquilts. My second is number 11 and my third is number 31.But actually, it's not fair, because all the quilts are so beautifull ! And congratulations with your 200th post! Love reading your blog....Hugs, Margreet
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first self-published pattern! You never stop, do you?
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutily in love with the house quilt #6.I love the baldness of the design and the unusuality of it. I think I saw it only 1 time before. It reminds me of those french or italian villages grasping to the mountains.
And I still am a sucker for quilt #23. The neatness of the lone star combined with the more folkart applique. That's just the top 2. Now I go stitching instead of lurking.
Have a nice week!
Oh Linda, you never should have said that we could pick more than one - it almost made for a never-ending list - but my selections are 11 (so rich, and I love all the tiny squares on point), 29 (love the play in the alternating background colours), 38(more tiny blocks), 39 (so beautifully executed) and 40 (so clean and crisp). I could go on but I did have to draw the line somewhere. And kudos on your pattern - is it the schoolhouse?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is #39- it is graceful, and the use of white on red rather than red on white is somehow unexpected and so eyecatching; second is #6- it is bold and graphice, and again, a bit unexpected- tradition with a little twist; third is #23- compelling use of piecing and applique. All of the quilts shown are so lovely, and all have great visual impact.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 - # 3 - I'm a sucker for NYB's and the toile in the background is so beautiful. Also #36 - the graphic nature and the uniqueness of the vine along with the center medallion. Wish I could have been there.
ReplyDeleteOkay, #19 was cute because of the sawteeth running beside the strips of blocks. No. 38 cause my eye because of the white applique floral scene on solid red really sparkled.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved being in the barn!!! It's really difficult to make a choice...maybe the 43 because it seems very refined.
ReplyDeleteHugs from France
Wow! I would love to have been at your show. My favorites are #11 and #39, I think because I love the red background. Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the zig zag one!! it's amazing and so unusual. I'd like to know who made it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Linda!!
Oh gosh, I definitely have favorites. My list is 1, 12, 24, 28, and 39. Most are the applique kind of quilts cause I love applique. The Bethlehem Star with applique (is that what it's called) is just amazing -- I can't imagine being able to make a quilt like that. And the first one -- well, there's something about it that just so appealing. Simple, but beautiful. I just love it! My favorite among the favorites? Now that would take some time to decide. lol! Are 12 and 28 the same quilt? They look so similar!
ReplyDeleteEvertime I look I have new favourites. So for now they are number 39, 31 and 11, but anything red nd white is a favorite.Thank you so much for sharing the lovelies.
ReplyDeleteI got so carried away looking at all the beautiful quilts that I posted a comment on the wrong post prior to this.
ReplyDeleteStill going with number 6... - the hillside village! :)
OK, there are too many to choose, but I did whittle my choices down. 10, 20, 31, 34. I gravitated to the solids, crisp contrast and of course applique. 34 was very cool. Machine quilting on 21 & 40 ROCKS and I do like those, heck, I like every one of them. What a great show and thanks for sharing. How much $$ did you raise this year?
ReplyDeleteOh my...how to choose just one? They are all simply amazing! Love red and white quilts going back to # 18...simple but so striking and perfectly pieced! Thanks for the chance and congrats on 200 posts...and a pattern coming? Wow! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteHi!!! All of these are very pretty and look very well made!!!! Hard choices!!!! I like 6,23,39,and 42!!! Yes the design with the colors just draws my attention more on these but they are all really great!!! Thanks for the fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difficult choice!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is #6, a bit different from other houses, still plain and simple.
But I like #12 and #28, I hope to make an Hawaiian style cushion cover sometime in the future.
#42 as Christmas is always a favourite, I live redwork.
And #37, weddingrings is always special.
But they all are so beautiful!
My favorites are 7 , and 19 , I love the repetition in the pattern, it's calm and beautiful. i also love 12 and 28 because of the needleturn (please make a pattern of this quilt!!!!! ) And 31 is also my favorite. But I love them all!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is #22 and #35 - I can't tell them apart. What a great block/setting! Red and White is so classic - I want to make another myself :0) I hope you'll tell us which one was the favorite at the show.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose! I limited myself to just 3-
ReplyDelete#3 love the toile background
#28 and 36 for design
#1 and #10, I have to admit it is the fabrics and embroidery in 10 that I like; and the simplicity of 39, almost lace like! Such beaty in all of these red and whites, though!!
ReplyDelete:-}pokey
Number 8 (because of design) and number 25 (my daughter's favourite flower) are my favourites. I loved the red and white colours in all of the quilts.
ReplyDeleteSorry, looks like I need new glasses, because I wanted to say (write) number 6. Though the number 8 is also beautiful.
ReplyDeletehow difficult it is to make a choice. They all are georgious. I think my favourites are 43 en 44 .I like the design. Have a nice week-end
DeleteJannie
My favorite is #9 with #23 a close second, then 28, 30 and 22. I also love the border on 36. My guess for the viewers choice at the live show is #39 which is lovely too. Thanks for the show and congratulations on your pattern (looking forward to seeing it) and 200th blog post!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these four quilt: 23, 18, 4, & 2. Why? Because of the use of traditional patterns. They look refined & simple, but I think looks deceive. The quilting is awesome. Do I need to say more :) I think you did a smashing job and would like to say thanks for sharing the photos of the QITB.
ReplyDeleteI think I like #18 the most - it's very clean and crisp because there is mostly white in the quilt - graphic and has great impact. That being said, they are all really wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI was sorry I missed these beautiful quilts in person, thankyou for sharing them in photos!!! They are all wonderful, but my absolute favourite is #21. I just love the simplicity and the stunning quilting which really makes this quilt come alive. I also love #45, #18, #2 and #13 in that order!!! The quilting is mindblowing and a great credit to those talented people. Congratulations on your upcoming 200th blog post!!!!
ReplyDeletei would love to make no. 30 but they are all beautiful
ReplyDeleteWow... amazing quilts!!! And I really like red and white quilts. It was difficult to make a selection but here is my choice:
ReplyDelete1) #36
2) #23
3) #28
Congratulations to all the quilters... This is so inspiring.
Oops!! I forgot to mention why..
ReplyDelete#36 for it's simple beauty... I can't take my eyes off it. I love traditional pieced quilts and appliqué borders and it has both. The quilting looks amazing too!
#23 for almost the same reasons... didn't know which to put first but I finally decided on #36 as my first choice.
#28 because before reading The Aloha Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini, I didn't like hawain quilts... now I dream of stitching one though I'm still not very fond of the hawain colors. So this red and white re-interpretation is really beautiful. I'd love to make one in Japanese taupe colors...
Thank you for letting us choose more then one! My personal favorite is #30, because I love the mix of different reds, I love the house block and nine patches. I love this quilt because I have always wanted to make one and I will definately use this picture as my inspiration! I think the dimensions of this quilt just works too eg the sashing v houses v border. I also love #39 because of the white on red (so effective) and the design is unique - simple but lovely, also because of the hours of applique work in it. Another quilt favorite is #11, because again I can see myself making it - it combines my two favorites, stars and four patch, but it has that wow factor because it is in the reverse. What a great competition, thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection - very hard to choose a favourite but I have four: 40 for the wonderful piecing and I have always loved this design, 39 for the appealing applique, 23 for the balanced and striking combination of applique and piecing, and 11 for the great colour choice ( a really good red!) and beautiful piecing. All the best :)Hilda
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed seeing all those Red Quilts. I really liked #38. I look forward to seeing your blog everyday.I love piecing quilts. Iam working on a redquilt now. MaryAnn
ReplyDeleteThey were all spectacular and it's very hard to pick just one or two. My favourite was #34 winding ways quilt. I'd love to make one of those one day and I just loved it in the reds and whites.
ReplyDeletei love no 25 the tulips, love the stitching on it and it is such a pretty quilt, but they are all so wonderful.xx
ReplyDeleteLinda they are all fantastic but the piecing in number 40 is amazing. Congratulations on self publishing your pattern I'll look forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteMmmm I love eye candy.I'd have to say that I love #36 This just looks balanced & #40 well it is just stunning I always appreciate peoples curves.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to be able to re-visit these beautiful quilts again. My favourites are:
ReplyDelete#10 the featured fabric (in the border and the blocks) was just gorgeous and the embroidery was beautiful, a very unique quilt
#12 (28?)loved the fabric choices and the needle-turn and hand quilting were perfectly executed.
My number one favourite isn't pictured here (I'm guessing because it was unfinished) was what I think was a red & white 'Tribute to Mrs Williams'.
No 11: I like the red to be the dominant colour in two colour quilts. It was tough picking this one from No. 24, I love the quilting on this particular quilt.
ReplyDelete#11 & #45 The stars, the sharp colors, the strong contrast .... but I really love most all red & white quilts! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful collection!
ReplyDeleteI love the design on quilt 36, love the Movement On quilt 37, 40 is just beautiful and I love the quilting On quilt number one
ReplyDeleteHi, My favorite would have to be #40 but in all honesty I really love them all. Love me a good red & white quilt! Thank you for your wonderful blog. It provides lots of ideas and entertainment and is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI love #20 for the simplicity of the design and #39 for the beautiful applique
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete19 and 23 are my favorites, but I love them all! I see a red and white quilt in my future!
ReplyDeleteI love them all, and it must have been so great to be surrounded by all these lovely quilts! Of course, if having to choose favorites, #3 is the top! A New York Beauty with toile!?! Can it get any better than that!?! Then #36, because it's intricate piecing and fabulous applique are so amazing together! #11 is awesome for it's stars and how the piecing makes it sparkle! And #14 because a scrappy Jacob's Ladder is just so wonderful! But I really do love them all! :o)
ReplyDeleteLinda its almost impossible to choose a favorite, I'm so glad you said we could choose more than one. I thought all the quilts were amazing but I have to say as a lover of Hawaii I have chosen 12 and 28. They are especially nice in red and white and have now been added to my list of to do. It was also a thrill to have my own quilt commented on. Congrats on your 200th post and I can't wait to see your pattern. A
ReplyDeletethey are all so fantastic. If I had to pick two that I would love to bring home with me they would be numbers 40 and 45.
ReplyDeletecongratulations on such a wonderful display. I didn't make it but a lovely friend bought me home some souvenirs. Hopefully next year...
My favourite is number 44. When I saw it in person, it left me with so many questions. I wondered about the maker, the time and energy in the quilting and the fringe around the outside. It challenged me to explore the options.. Why not fringe around my quilt? Do I take the time and enjoy the quilting process or see it as a chore to finish the top... After all, my quilt may still be around 150 years from now.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of #25 with the tulips, the quilting makes it special. And I like the houses in #6, it looks like a crowded inner city street from the early 1900s. #36 with the piecing and the applique border isn't bad either! Wish I could have been there.
ReplyDeleteGosh! What a treat these photos are! I love, well, all of them. But especially 11 (because I love anything with stars and I think the different combo of white on red, rather than red on white, is stunning), 20 (I love how many reds you can get in one quilt!) and 39 (I'm a sucker for applique, and again the white on red combo is just so lovely).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your upcoming 200th post!

ReplyDeletedon't make me choose!!! #39, all teh schoolhouse ones...and most of the rest!
ReplyDeleteMy Favourites in this order are 9,39 36 and 23. I love the movement in all of these quilts. There is so much energy and vitality.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that I think they are all wonderful each has a special quality and life.
Thankyou for putting on this wonderful exhibition. I do hope to get there one year.
i love #9 and #12, applique makes me drool. and #22 because it is so beautifully pieced and the red/white is evenly distributed..but it is difficult to choose just a few as they are all stunning. the red/white combo is classic!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you said I could choose more than one..No's 11,36,39 and 42 are my most favourites :) Barb.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I still really love the tulip quilt number 25.Thats the one I voted for at the Exibition. I just loved the quilting, red thread, and the simple blocks that look so effective. But I do really like quilt 20. It looks so different 'in the flesh (fabric)' When I got home and looked at my photos I couldn't believe how different it looks. Yourself and your team have inspired me again. Bronwyn
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, since it's hard to see the quilting on the picture, I think I prefer the # 32 because of the negative illusion it give usually we see the "white" and red, this one is the "red" and white.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those wonderful quilt picture with us.
Jocelyne
Hard to decide. That's for sure. 9 and 12 because I love appliqué. 29 because the contrast is so beautiful. Thanks for the chance to win. Congrats on your first pattern.
ReplyDeleteMary
HI Linda, so sorry I missed QIB this year, all the quilts look wonderful. My particular favourites are:
ReplyDelete#5 - Love the School house block and this one appeals because of the scale of the houses, the reversed alternate treatment is interesting and unexpected.
#20 - Always like applique associated with detailed piecing, have a love affair with star quilts and especially like big blazing stars! Gorgeous.
Well done on a lovely show again.
Kate
I think number 11 is my favorite! Although it was extremely hard to choose. #11 just makes me go wow, I love the design and how it pops.
ReplyDeleteKallie
I love anything in red and white but especially # 39! And in desending order-#23,28,and 9. I love the flowing flowers in 39.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difficult decision because there were so many wonderful quilts. I loved 39 because it was so bold and beautifully sewn. I love both of Debbie's. The red quilting on the tulip one was striking, as was her use of "off white" in her bird quilt (43). After vowing never to do another red and white, I may need to reconsider- especially after seeing the Hawaiian ones.
ReplyDeletefavorite big quilt, I cannot get it down to 1, so in no order
ReplyDeleteno.11 love the colour choice
no.20 amazing piecing
no.25 so simple, so stunning
no.34 winding ways always a favourite
All the quilts are beautiful, but I think my favourite is number 23. Number 36 also caught my eye. Thanks for sharing all these stunning quilts.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, this is a beautiful exhibition of quilts, the more you look at the red/white combinations, the more you love them. My choices are 12, 37 and 43. Congrats on the getting to 200, I love your blog and say keep up the great work, Janelle.
ReplyDeleteThere are two quilts I like the most:
ReplyDelete#3 - I love the toile and the way it has been used
#26 - this appeals to me because it is a little bit quirky and I love the quilting.
it was really hard to chose I have come back and looked at the quilts over and over again
ReplyDeleteI loved so many of them, what an incredible exhibit this must have been
here are the ones I just could not eliminate from the favorite list
3,9,23,36,39,and 45
kathie
Decisions...decisions, numbers 20 & 39, I loved them on the day & I love the photos. No. 30 is so different in red & white, they all deserve to win. Thanks again for another wonderful day. Annette
ReplyDeleteVery difficult to choose but my most favorite is #39. I love how red it is! The others which called my name: 3 (toile!), 12, 23, 28 and 40.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I love red and white quilts. They are truly my favorite blends. The ones that jump off the pages to me are: 23, 24, and 39. I would love to study the quilting on #24. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThese quilts are gorgeous,my favorites are #1, the fabric, the pattern simple, the quilting great!!
ReplyDeleteAnd # 25, why? It is the flower from my country,Netherlands
Cannot wait to see your pattern!!!
HI! RED+WHITE QUILTS>WHAT A SHOW!
ReplyDeleteMY FAVORITE IS #30>SO ATTRACTIVE!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
msstitcher1948@yahoo.com
Love the combination of red and white. My choice is No 39, the white on red for 2 reasons. Firstly it is "back to front" and a bit different because of that - a bit like me, and secondly because you cannot have too much applique. I also particularly like no 39 because a girl can never have too many diamonds. And my 3rd choice would be No 36 because it has so many of those pesky triangle plus just the right amount of applique too make it a little bit more special.
ReplyDelete#40 is my favourite. I love the graphic nature of the pattern and of course all the quilting. A winning combination.
ReplyDeleteI love #5, #12 and #37! Just because :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing them!
Hugs,
Tatyana
I felt in love with #10.
ReplyDeleteI love #41. The quilting is ingenious.
ReplyDeleteI loved the quilt show and it's so hard to choose just one favourite. I love #40 for it's precision piecing, #39 just stood out at the show and I love it as it is so different to most appliqued quilts and I also love #36 for its combination of fine piecing as well as applique. That being said, there was not one quilt I didn't like/love and would love to own.lol! Not much help was I!
ReplyDeleteWow, how to choose. My favs are 23 - I love the impact that the lone star has, it just stands out; 39 for the balance of white on red looks very effective; and 40 for the detail and workmanship.
ReplyDelete44,40 and 39 are my favourites but such a hard decision to choose. Well done to you. It is the next best thing to actually being there and wish I could have seen it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of them but my favorites are 9, 22, 23, 36, 40, 43 and 45.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to choose but I really love 39, and 25.
ReplyDeleteI love #12 and #39. Both of those caught my eye in every pic of your quilt show I've seen thus far. Love the value change in the first quilt and the design. #39 is just so refreshing. Who would've thought that the applique could hold it's own in such a dramatic way when it is only in red and white?
ReplyDeleteThey are all gorgeous. My favourite though is no.9 just because that's the one I'd most like to make!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the photos.
I adore the pattern on Quilt #44. It captures my attention because it looks like fireworks going off in the sky. All of the quilts are beautiful. Thanks for sharing! I gained a lot of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThere are such a lovely ones .
ReplyDeleteBut i like the most the 20 and 40,just because i love them.
You have asked a question nearly impossible to answer without saying, "All!" The ones I like the best are 6 (I found the set intriguing), 24 (because of it's simple and crisp traditional look), and 39 (because of the free-wheeling applique and the white-on-red).
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving such a good tour; I'm sorry I couldn't see them in person.
6, 12, and 23 are my favorites. I love the way those houses fit together alternating red and white. Then 12 is like a Hawaiian quilt with a nice variety of blocks. And 23 just because I am a pushover for stars.. They really are all lovely
ReplyDeleteWauw....beautiful!! My favourite colours. I like the most number 2, number 9 and number 23. All the others are also beautiful, but I have to make a choise.......
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the photos
#11 is my favorite. I am drawn in by the deep rich red used as the background fabric. The white stars seem to pop. So bold!
ReplyDeleteNo 42 would have to be my favourite as I love doing redwork, but because red is my favourite colour I really love them all.
ReplyDeletelyn.robyn.smith@gmail.com
Like everyone else said, it's nearly impossible to choose, as they are all beautiful. But my favorites are #11 - I love the deep red color, and stars, and I like diagonal designs. It's so bold and graphic. Next would be #30 - schoolhouses and 9-patch are so classic and perfect. Then I love #39 for it's exuberant applique design! Thank you so much for sharing all these lovelies!
