Linda, Sandra, and Bev's Big American Adventure of 2009. Sleeping in America Part 1

26th September 2009.
Hi everyone,
We all arrived safely after a very uneventful but LONG 23 hour trip. After arriving at JFK last night we collected our hire car and drove ( Bev for the first hour, then l took over. Read in to that what you want!!!) to our hotel in Princeton. Needless to say we collapsed into bed.

  27th September 2009.
Then this morning we visited Winterthur Museum, in Delaware,

took a tour through the house,

and had lunch in their cafe, which was wonderful,

before  heading  off to Ephrata Cloisters, where after a few u-turns to take photos of pumpkins,

we made the last tour of the day by 5 minutes.

If you haven't been to either of these places, l can highly recommend them both. It's my second time visiting both places, and l thoroughly enjoyed both times.

We are now safely settled in our room in Intercourse P.A.,

(after dragging our bags up a flight of stairs,) having had a late dinner. We saw lots of Amish out and about today,

being Sunday, they were visiting for church. The clip clopping of hooves outside our window is just delightful.

 28th September 2009.
Had a full day planned for today. A walk around the town, visiting many of the shops,

and a visit to Zooks Fabric shop in the morning saw some fabric added to our stashes,
a visit to the Old Country Store across the road in the morning,

being careful not to be run over by a buggy,

then into Lancaster to visit the Lancaster Quilt and Textile Museum.

Where we saw some stunning Amish Quilts,

and a wonderful display of Navajo Indian Rugs.

We then had a  2 hour drive to Lewisburg P.A.  Our accommodation for the night was at The Pineapple Inn.

We stayed in the Family Suite, with quilts and antique coverlets on our beds.
Again, highly recommend this Inn if you are in the district.

Well, its bed time here, so must away.
Speak to you all soon,

Linda, Sandra and Bev.
