Castlemaine Applique Society Meeting

Bev, Dorothy and l took the drive to Castlemaine last Saturday for this months
meeting of the Castlemaine Applique Group.
Carolyn, one of the members, was our guest speaker, and she shared with us
her antique quilt collection, telling us stories of how
and why she collected the quilts she owns.

This first one is just a top, but its color and design is stunning.

This second one is also a top, Jacobs Ladder.
Carolyn hopes to one day hand quilt these tops.

Carolyn always wanted to make a double wedding ring quilt,
and now that she owns an antique one, she does not need too!!

This 9 patch was quite charming, and
from a distance has an Amish look to it.

This stunning red and white quilt caught my eye.

This quilt was just charming, an album block.

This was probably my favorite on the day. Love that red and black/grey.

Another lovely red and white. This one belongs to Carolyn's friend, Sharon.

Carolyn also brought 2 bears.
This one has been made using an antique cutter quilt.

This one was made using a school blazer. Quite charming!!

Here is a picture of our group in the hall we use.
About 50 members. We always have a great day!!!

l will be back in a few days with some of the quilts
from Show and tell. A few stunners to share!!!

Thanks for visiting.

  1. What a lovely variety of antique quilts. I too love the black and red but also like the pinks and red in the 9 patch. It looks like a fantastic meeting.

  2. Now this is an incredibly fantastic share! I can't thank you enough. That first quilt is intriguing. The Pink album block really grabbed my attention, too. And the bears are cute - a school blazer - how neat is that?

  3. Oh yes!...that red/black/grey quilt is my favorite of all those wonderful quilts! What a great collection! And I love that she doesn't need to worry about making a wedding ring now! lol

  4. The red and white star quilt can come live at my house just any time.

  5. All of these are wonderul! What a treat to see them all!

  6. What a fun day! Nice time span in her collection.

  7. Thank you for sharing the great collection of antique quilts. Looks like a fun meeting.

  8. A wonderful collection with good variety. What a congenial group.

  9. Love the show and tell!! What great quilts!!!

  10. I have a double-wedding ring almost a duplicate of Carolyn's in color. Mine was a top found at a yard sale and I meticulously hand-quilted it. It's on my bed right now...a summery weight quilt. I love it.
