That's the Plan!!

What do the following 5 photos have in common?

If you guessed they are all half square triangles you would be half right.

If you guessed that they are colors other than red and white you would be doubly right!!

They are coming at me from all sides!!

l am completely surrounded by them!!

HELP!!

l am packing for a retreat at Sorrento this weekend.

And while l have 2 red and white projects that MUST get finished,

 l am so ready to play with color again,

after a self imposed year long red and white sewing marathon.

Its been the best fun, but these little bundles of color

 are calling my name louder and louder each day.

What's a girl to do!!

Throw in some 9 patches that want to play too!!!





 And some coffee mats that just need their binding stitched down.

 This is great mindless sewing in front of the TV

 at night with a good movie. ( and a glass of wine!! )

Oh, did someone say chocolate???

l will press on and get this one finished.

This won't take long.

Then there are these waiting for attention.

l know what l am doing, in my mind, just need to make it happen. 

And if those little colored squares of goodness don't complain too loud,

 l might even dive in here and see what we can do. Or not!!!

Its looking like a fun stitching weekend.

l have 4 quilty friends joining me, so l am sure that laughter will fill the house,

as well as good food, tons of fabric, cheese and hopefully chocolate!!

Oh, did l say wine!!

School House Quilt published!

Remember back here?

l made the house when l had a cold, had to first fix the roof,

 then redraft the block because the sashing was too hard to do the math to make it fit.

Well, my School House Quilt has finally been published and

l can show you why l had to redraft my house to make the sashing fit.

Can you only imagine how difficult that sashing

would have been to make it fit 13 1/4" ?

At 14" finished, its a cinch!!

Those white square?  A simple 3" cut.

l don't even want to contemplate the fractions l would have had to work with.

Here is the whole quilt.

This quilt will be hanging at our Infinite Variety Revisited Exhibition in October,

 and l will have the pattern available.

Unless of course, you can't wait, and buy the magazine instead!!

l first came across Sharon when she joined an online group l belong to.

 She shared a photo of her quilt and discussed reproducing it.

l am super excited that is finally happening.

Sharon has produced the first block, which will be free, then to follow

 are 35 more blocks, with lots of info on each signature.

 l am excited they have joined the blogging world.

Their latest quilt, The Unknown Quilt is delightful.

 Its centre will be recognised by many.

Its inspired by a framed quilt l saw in the American Folk Art Museum last year.

 The general layout and mix of hexagons and circles is based

 on an Antique English Coverlet in the collection of Janet O'Dell.

Mrs Billings Coverlet Special exhibition.

Karen Styles from Somerset Quilts designed the Mrs Billings Coverlet

several years ago, and has a band of dedicated

 followers making their versions of the quilt.

Here is Karen below with her original quilt.

This year at the Melbourne Quilt Show 16 of the completed quilts

 were hung in a  special exhibit. Several of them won prizes as you will see by

 their ribbons, including Runner Up Best of Show.

All the quilts are just a little different, from the fabrics used,

or a creative change in the design.

 Each one is different, unique and equally beautiful.

So grab a cuppa, sit back, and enjoy these amazing quilts.
