School House Quilt published!

Remember back here?
l made the house when l had a cold, had to first fix the roof,
then redraft the block because the sashing was too hard to do the math to make it fit.

Well, my School House Quilt has finally been published and
l can show you why l had to redraft my house to make the sashing fit.

Can you only imagine how difficult that sashing
would have been to make it fit 13 1/4" ?
At 14" finished, its a cinch!!
Those white square?  A simple 3" cut.
l don't even want to contemplate the fractions l would have had to work with.

Here is the whole quilt.
This quilt will be hanging at our Infinite Variety Revisited Exhibition in October,
and l will have the pattern available.
Unless of course, you can't wait, and buy the magazine instead!!

Here is the magazine article,

And it can be found in this edition of Australian Patchwork and Quilting.
l even made the front cover!!!

Now what to do with the 4 blocks
l have made as samples for the magazine????

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Ahhh, really nice! I think you should make a table topper with the 4 house blocks at an angle in each know, so that as the corner hangs off of a table the house block will be hanging off the table as well! Then do the same smashing throughout the rest of the quilt! Do you publish other patterns? (so sorry if I should know this about you!)

  2. How exciting!! Congratulations! It is a beautiful quilt worthy of publication!! I love the sashing.

  3. Good for you Linda - what a coup! I love the sashing. Not sure that we get the mag here but I'll take a look. Who knew you were so famous? :)

  4. Very nice; love the sashing. It seems unusual for a house quilt, and it adds so much.

  5. very nicely done, Linda!! who doesn't love school house quilts LOL??!!
i especially like the contrasting fabrics in the sashing, frames the red schoolhouses beautifully!!
Can't wait to see it in October :))) cheers...Marian

  7. Love the sashing, whoohoo to being a cover girl! How fun for you. I'll look for this edition when I go to town tomorrow.

  8. Congratulations Linda. Would love to be able to visit your Red/White exhibition in the barn, but it's "a bit" too far away!

  9. Yeah! I will have to find the magazine, how about framing the 4 blocks and giving them as gifts?
or you could just whip them up as little quilts!
    so happy for you

  10. Grand time to make AP&Q..... here in the States No. 4 is on the stands.... so it will be a while before No. 9 arrives here. Like that you "fixed" the pattern so that we all don't go bonkers trying to sew it.

  11. Yay!! What a beautiful quilt!! The sashing is wonderful with the red schoolhouses!

  12. I love your house block, great job and Congratulations! I also LOVE the finished project. I struggled with my house blocks too, it was around this time last year as a matter of fact!
